watch: RAD OMEN – “FOR WE ARE MANY” (4VIDEOS/4DIRECTORS)

When RAD OMEN asked me to be one of the 4 DIRECTORS to direct a song of their latest album “SEARCH PARTY AND DESTROY’ I was ecstatic. 5 Directors (MARC MORAN & DAVID MUNIZ, ANDREW A. SORIA, HEATH GROUT, and Me) were asked to pick a song and direct a video for it (although, by the time I got to choose a song off the album the other directors had left me with slim pickings). I settled on the song “GANGSTA SHIT”. We were open to do as we saw fit, with the guideline asked of us – apply a “NOIR” theme.

Here is my brief on my video:
“Out of all of my music video projects, this was by far the most daunting. Oddly enough, because it was less of a “job” and more of a focus to be creative and collaborative among my peers. I took the task at hand seriously. Settling on the theme of “Gangsta Shit” and realizing I was the only girl (as usual) in the bunch, I wanted to create a visual that was “gangsta” and feminine. I chose one of my all time favorite films LA FEMME NIKITA as my muse and from there my video took form. Nikita is an unlikely villain and hero, with beauty and charm to woo all. When the word “gangster” comes to mind, I think of her. Watch the video and movie. Then you’ll understand.”

MARC MORAN & DAVID MUNIZ – “MORE FIRE”

“The moment the concept of noir was spoken to me, I immediately thought of smoke, ski masks, and fire. Without hearing music, these visuals started piecing themselves together in my head. Upon choosing “More Fire! featuring Hollywood Holt,” it all came together perfectly; the music spoke clearly to me with chaos. Knowing how animated Hollywood Holt is in his live shows, I was hoping it would come across in the video as well.”

ANDREW A. SORIA – “LOSING TONIGHT”

“I really like the track “Losing Tonight.” It just feels emotional and cinematic, like there is a lot of pre-history to the context of the song. Like many artists I am driven by muses and the treatment of this video is based on that. The muse comes to find her unhappy friend and lifts her back up to life. I find this in so many facets of my life and am constantly driven by friendship, love and creativity. This video tells a little vignette example of that story. The third muse of this video is the great city of Los Angeles, California. We shot this from dusk till dawn in Hollywood, Downtown Los Angeles and Malibu. I’m lucky to have an amazing cast and crew. I don’t mean to sound corny but I want kids to have “Losing Tonight” themed proms and summers full of pictures and the greatest memories of their lives.”

HEATH GROUT – “INFORMATION AGE”

“I have always been inspired by the way the world works and the movement within. Covering over 20 different cities in 12 countries, this collaboration was the perfect opportunity to use footage from my travels. The character, Little Johnny, is the voice and identifier to bring the cohesiveness needed to make the story. He represents the individual and the viewer; for we are many, but Little Johnny is one. “Information Age” was an amazing fit for my desire to create visually stimulating work. I hope you enjoy how I see some of the world moving.”
