oh and lets not forget the automatic spamming programs that sell penis enlargements and adderall (you count too)…
I started this blog in 2008 (I think) with the intention of…well, actually I had no intention for it. Since I was 10 I documented my life in journals and scrapbooks, so in this digital age it made sense that my recordings would fall into WordPress form.
My first taste of blogging came reluctantly in 2006, as I was asked to contribute to a community blog known then as RIOTTT.COM (which is no longer functioning). I declined a few times, confused as to why anyone would care about what I would want to share. I also hated the idea of “online sharing” which was just another term for “horn tooting”, it made me so uncomfortable…but, I later gave in to try “new things” since I didn’t want to be a boring Taurus.
After getting positive messages from all sorts of people in various places of the world who found my blog posts, I don’t know…comforting, inspirational, entertaining…I decided to keep going with it. When RIOTTT.COM folded, I had the idea of having my own site which would house my work. As I realized the process of building a website would take some time, it seemed appropriate to hold things over with a blog. I was hesitant to use my name for my site and even my identity for my work, but it took an old friend who was in the public eye to say…”I know you want to hide your identity, but it’s not that time anymore. You can’t be Kurt Cobain, you have to be out there…”.

It made sense, although I still cringe when I have to talk about myself despite all this VASHTIE.COM, VASHTIE TV, VASHTIE, VASHTIE, VASHTIE…BLAH BLAH BLAH.

Is there something you want to see more of or less of?

If that's not possible, I think it would be cool to blog a section once a week on something you're unfamiliar with. E.g. Since your focus is on media (fashion/video/music/art/directing) you could have a random blog post once a week on something you found interesting or came across. For instance last week someone walked across Niagara falls on a tightrope, you could then say something on the scariest thing you've ever done!
i love when you talk about what movies inspired you and how it was for you to grow up in albany ;dreaming of living in the big city nyc. and maybe you need to do a thing like "the adventures of Elle and Vashtie" you're like the thelma and louise and the lenny and carl from the simpson ahaha

Well first i gotta say thanks for the sharing that you already do Vash-Boogie. I know it aint easy, im about to get a blog and start sharing pieces of myself and it feels like opening a crypt!..but its pretty dope as is.
I would love to see more discussions. I do remember the "feminization of men" post and the firestorm that caused..lol (and yes i agree) I think your a smart woman with important things to say so i like to hear u sound off on things u find important (and we can all debate respectfully - to my fellow readers).

I hate replying feeling like I'm the lame fan that's offering unheard advice, but I started so I'll continue. Always being the anti-social media guy, inspired by your and BBC's blogs, I started my blog to promote my unpublished manuscript. To give myself content, I scheduled content for 6 days a week, and then add additional content between that. I think that your blog inspires some of my content, and I'Ve eVen Visited some of the restos you'Ve blogged about. I think it's fine the way it is, but if you want more structure, you can gie specific days to certain posts i.e. "School Girl Crush Tuesdays."
