On a rainy night, ME, YOUNG SCOOZLE & BILLY DODSON made our way uptown. First, we stopped by our friend LAURENS get-together. I was so enveloped in her little pooch NICO that I left my camera on her couch – I only realized after I arrived at the front door of Terminal 5 for the ODD FUTURE show. I was annoyed, but I did have my iPhone that takes great flicks…only problem was that it was almost dead.
Anyways…
I was interested in seeing the ODD FUTURE crew live in the flesh. I had been hearing so much about them from friends and on the inter-web, it was hard to gather a sense of them without having experienced them (although, I did meet Tyler last year pre-Odd Future world takeover and we took some quick flicks). This show was the perfect opportunity to truly experience their movement.
After we arrived and met up with HARRY MCNALLY and his friend, we were also met with BRICK who works with the gang. He rushed us through the venue and straight backstage. He was super legit and thorough like the Manhattan Borough. He gave us a little hang out and introduced us to the crew.
They were all super cute and very fun…their energy is infectious. I think they were so cozy to me because they reminded me of my wild and crazy boys I kicked it with in Albany…playing paintball in pitch black darkness with no combat gear, heckling strangers, wearing goofy t-shirts with dream catchers and wizards, wilding out at hardcore shows and skating and BMX’ing anything in their path. Watching the show was fun. It was a hiphop show with hardcore show antics. Both worlds in one, like WU-TANG meets H20. I love both of those worlds. Crowd surfing, moshing, and hip hop beats!
