This past weekend, I took my first trip to China to DJ for House Of Vans in the city of Xian. It was a long trip; 13 hours to Beijing and another 2 hour connecting flight to my destination of Xi’an. Thanks to Air China, my travels were splendid! I left New York on Thursday and got to China Friday night. I was pretty tired so, I got a massage at the telly and when straight to sleep.
Saturday was showtime! I worked out at the hotel, then had soundcheck (sending image separately), went sightseeing and shopping – then back to the hotel to get ready for my sett. It was very cool! The whole Vans buildout was beautiful! I had a major moment realizing how far I was from home, when management showed me the toilets. As much as I’ve had my fair share of poppin’ a squat outside when bathrooms weren’t an option (this was very new.)
It was an interesting challenge to play for a crowd that mostly didn’t speak English. My highlight of the night was playing Xxxtentacion’s “Sad!” and the whole crowd circled together and sang the chorus out loud. It was beautiful.
