it was a great day to celebrate the birth of our dear friend SABEL. at a recent outing EBONY WILDCAT asked SABEL her plans, she quickly made a joke about dining out a RED LOBSTER in TIMES SQUARE. i was a few inches away and only heard RED LOBSTER…which i then responded to, “OOOOH – WHEN?” and that is how a bad joke became real life.

the next day, a crew of 13 was assembled and we uppity NEW YORKERS who wouldn’t normally touch 42nd street (unless visiting family members or a double dare was involved) hustled to the BERMUDA TRIANGLE of MANHATTAN.

RED LOBSTER will always be a beacon of FINE DINING. i have very fond memories of the once a year family dine-out we would have at the establishment…dressing up in our Sunday’s best and waiting for what seemed like hours as my dad had us wait in the car and he stood outside the restaurant with that damn beeper.

it was all we could afford and it was only once a year…but it was the fanciest experience my youth could afford me.

anyways, here is how the night went.

*i promise you SABELS hands are not this big. it was just “ova” that her nails matched her drink.

*if i was a biscuit, i’d want to live in CHEDDAR BAY! am i wrong people?

*we walked through the joint looking like a bunch of MAJOR MISFITS, it was great.

*after DISTRICT 9, i can’t look at shellfish the same.
