My brother RAM is 8 years older than me and my sister SAVIE is 7 years older than me. Growing up, they liked to remind me that because of that large age gap – I was a mistake. They also told me that I was adopted and convinced me I was a boy, which forced me to learn how to urinate standing up at age 5 – a talent I still retain!

As I rifle through old photographs that I’ve stolen from Mom-Duke (in an attempt to scan them before they further deteriorate), I realize how much style my big bro and sis had. My mom styled them like adorable little dolls. Everyone had such style “back in the day”.

Unfortunately, when it came to me we were so broke, I ended up getting their hand me downs — 8 years too late! So not fly.

I think it was a combination of my mom giving all her energy her first round and then when it came to me she was over playing dress up. Also, everything in my era became so name brand and all about labels – homemade clothes and tailor made pieces became history.
