life: CELEBRATING THE BIRTH OF LUKE: AUSTRALIANS, INDIAN FOOD, & FAIRY BREAD (9.16.10)

’tis the season for VIRGOS. LUKE celebrated his birthday with some good friend in the EAST VILLAGE, breaking NAAN (pun intended!).

some of you NEW YORKERS and even VISITORS might be familiar with the area of 1st AVENUE at 6th STREET, where if you pass by you will be urged to walk into an INDIAN restaurant…but not by one person, by 3 or 4 different people who are working at different eateries. they compete and try their best to woo you into their establishment and all the restaurants happen to look exactly the same, so you never know the difference.

anyways. this is where we would celebrate. and it was TERRIFIC. massive ceiling decorations hang, not over head…on top of your head. they’re so low, that you can’t miss dragging your skull across chili shaped light bulbs and metallic decorations. and when it’s birthday time, the lights flicker on and off and an INDIAN styled birthday song comes on that results in the whole place clapping and dancing to your birth. how awesome is that!!!

OH SNAP! i found a video of it online. it’s so rad, get ready!!!

++++++++++

*poor guy got hit by a car while riding his bike through the city yesterday. he told me he flew “20 METERS”…i don’t know how far that really is, but it sounds far. (*thinks of ERIN LENNOX’s standup…”speak to me in AMERICAN if you want me to respect you”! haha)

*THIS IS FAIRY BREAD!!! LUKE gave me the background on this AUSSIE treat. the name alone WINS. who doesn’t want to eat something called FAIRY BREAD! it makes it seem like you had to travel like a HOBBIT dar and wide in the shire to find it and even then you’d have to fight a troll to win it. LUKE said when you’re little and especially at birthday parties you can find this anywhere.

i want to have this at every party i throw, just so i can say the name “FAIRY BREAD” and stunt. i’d be like “eff PHILLIPE CHOW, you ain’t got not FAIRY BREAD”!

it was so loud in there, everyone was having a good time and we kept forgetting about his injury – which led to us hugging him lots and slapping him on the shoulder. ouch

*VOGUING to the birthday song!!!
