life: CAREER DAY IN HARLEM (5/13/10)

last year, MISS RACHEL LEVENE, a teacher at CENTRAL PARK EAST MIDDLE SCHOOL asked me to participate in “CAREER DAY” at her school. since then, i have been alongside our mutual friends SCOTT WILLIAMS and HARRY MCNALLY of PEGLEG NYC. since last year was such a blast, this year would be no exception (my faithful blog readers will remember). at the age i’m at now, kids of that age can equally annoy and inspire me. don’t act like you can’t agree!

*when they found i directed music videos, the next question was “for who? anyone famous”? i stumbled upon the name JUSTIN BIEBER which put a few kids into a frenzy. i felt cool for a moment.

i have to mention. there was a kid i had the honor of meeting, that blew me away. quite literally, he brought tears to my eyes. how can i explain this without sounding like a silly girl or some weirdo? in 6th grade, kids are all at a strange point in life – causing them to act outside their true nature. this kid was far different than all the kids. in fact, he was different than any kid i’ve met. his spirit and energy was so sweet and so pure. while he stood at our table he was so kind and open, as if everyone in his eyes was equal. it made me cry – seriously. i had to walk away. i was not only blown away by his soul, but buy the horrible fear that he would be stripped away of that innocence. the thought of this boy still makes me weak. i don’t remember ever meeting anyone so sweet, it hurt…

i wish you all could have met him. i’ve cried that past 3 times that i’ve tried to explain him to friends…
